Vaccine Descriptions

  • BCG: Protects against tuberculosis, administered intradermal on the left shoulder.
  • IPV/OPV: Polio vaccines; IPV is preferred, but a combination with OPV offers enhanced protection.
  • DTaP/DTwP: Protects against diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (whooping cough). DTaP causes fewer reactions than DTwP.
  • Hib: Protects against Haemophilus influenzae type B, which can cause serious infections in young children.
  • Rotavirus Vaccine: Given orally to prevent diarrheal diseases caused by rotavirus.
  • Measles/MMR: Vaccinates against measles, mumps, and rubella.
  • Flu Vaccine: Administered from 6-8 months, with two doses in the first year.
  • Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine: Prevents typhoid fever and can be boosted later in life.
